Monitoring
Located across from the Barclays Center, the completed building, which will host a Chick-Fil-A restaurant, has two floors including cellar. GRANT was contracted by the client to perform a pre-construction conditions assessment of the existing structure at the site, as well as 4 adjacent properties. GRANT provided a full structural assessment report, with photo-log. GRANT then installed tell-tales and is monitoring cracks during excavation, underpinning and through completion of 1st floor construction, providing periodic movement reports. GRANT was also contracted to monitor vibrations and movement to verify that construction activities are not negatively impacting the structural stability of adjacent buildings, the existing structure or Transit Authority infrastructure, as the lot is within the area of influence of the Atlantic Center subway station. GRANT performs 24-hour continuous vibration monitoring and periodic optical monitoring in accordance with monitoring plan requirements.
